And in 2016, I had little to no hope for my financial future.
I was 35 with $28k in debt, $0 in savings, and under 19k in a retirement account. My boyfriend, who I lived with, was covering rent and most of the bills, while I worked part-time as a freelance writer making $40k-ish a year. Oh, and not to mention I was living in San Francisco, one of the most expensive places to live on the planet.
The thing is, it wasn’t about the money….it was about how the situation made me feel. I felt trapped. I felt helpless. I felt dumb. And I felt anxious about money, all the time, because I hadn’t “figured it out” by now. I relied heavily on credit cards to get by and I really didn’t want to be in debt anymore.
I decided I needed to learn everything I could about personal finances…ASAP.
So I buckled down, taught myself how to budget, took on extra work, and managed to pay off all of my debt in just 8 months!
I felt so free, empowered and liberated that it inspired me to teach others how to live debt-free too.
Budgeting, hands down, saved my life. I now have the freedom to choose where my money goes and I have such a clear picture of where I’m going.
I want to teach you how to budget, because every money goal you want in life, relies on it. You will get there faster and be more intentional when you learn the skill of budgeting and practice it every month.
